This version of Intel® PROSet/Wireless WiFi Software is compatible with the adapters listed next. However, note that newer features provided in this software release are generally not supported for older, legacy adapters.
The CCX SDK version number for this release is 1.1.13.
This version of Intel® PROSet/Wireless WiFi Connection Utility runs on Microsoft Windows* XP.
To access user documentation, load the Intel® PROSet/Wireless WiFi Connection Utility CD. Click View User Guide on the installer screen.
When you run the Intel® PROSet/Wireless WiFi Installer program, it replaces all previous versions of 13.x, 14.x, and 15.x of Intel® PROSet/Wireless WiFi Connection Utility with the current version. If you have a version previous to 13.0, you should remove the old version of Intel® PROSet/Wireless WiFi Connection Utility before installing this version. For the driver and software to function correctly on Windows* XP, the recommendation is to install Service Pack 2 or later.
For the driver and software to function correctly on Windows* XP, ensure that the Windows Installer 3.1 v2 or greater is installed.
A client disassociates upon moving from hibernation mode when the following conditions are met:
The recommendation is to set the system hibernate power option to “Never” when the computer is on AC power.
Intel recommends using security with your WiFi network. The 802.11n specification indicates that a compliant adapter can achieve transfer rates greater than 54 Mbps on 802.11n connections only when using AES security or no security. You should only use no security when setting up or troubleshooting the network.
To enable AES for Personal Security, select WPA-Personal (AES-CCMP) or WPA2-Personal (AES-CCMP) in the Security Settings pull down menu. To enable AES for Enterprise Security, select AES-CCMP in the Data Encryption pull down menu.
Support for Novell Client has been removed from this version of Intel® PROSet/Wireless WiFi Connection Utility.
To use Nortel VPN Client you can either set up a user profile with Maintain connection on log off or an administrator profile with Pre-logon Connect and Persistent Connection enabled in the same profile.

Microsoft Data Execution Protection
There is a known incompatibility when Microsoft Data Execution Protection is set to "AlwaysOn" in the boot.ini file. Setting this to "AlwaysOn" will disable major functions of the Intel® PROSet/Wireless WiFi Connection Utility.
Profile Migration when Upgrading from Previous Versions
When upgrading from Intel® PROSet/Wireless WiFi Connection Utility, versions 12.x, 13.x, and 14.x to version 15.x, all profiles are migrated. Profiles created under versions previous to 12.0 are not migrated.
User Windows Logon Credentials
This problem only occurs after installation of Intel® PROSet/Wireless WiFi Connection Utility and before the next reboot. For profiles where "Use Windows logon credentials" has been selected, if the user then attempts to connect using that profile, the user is still prompted for user credentials for authentication. The user needs to logout and log back in for the credentials to be acquired, or the system needs to be rebooted. Then, later attempts to connect will not request user credentials.
After the association flow completes, the adapter stays awake (as in CAM mode) for 10 seconds, and then acts according to the PowerIndex (PI) regkey. PI should not be change during this period. The association timeout is 10 seconds. Using the Linksys access point, association occurs every 60 seconds, resulting in deauthentication and disconnection from the Linksys access point.
